Reading Time in Room 1

Today we talked about the importance of staying on task at Reading time by making sure we are doing lots of reading and writing so we can become better readers.

Here are the Super Duper Room 1 Readers - 'reading to self' and 'reading to someone'.

Terrell's training session with the Pulse

Terrell, along with 6 other Parkvale players, was selected to attend a training session with the Haier Pulse on Saturday at the Hastings Sports Park.  He got to warm up and train with the players and then play a game.  Afterwards the children all received a ball and poster that they were able to have signed.
A fantastic session.  Thank you Haier Pulse and Hawke's Bay Netball.

Manuka Hub Picnic @ Windsor Park

What a fabulous time we all had at Windsor Park today!   We all enjoyed walking down to the park and as we did the clouds disappeared and the sun shone down!  We had a great time participating in the relays races with our teams.  Our picnic lunch in the shade was lots of fun and we were lucky to have so many families join us!  It was great to be able to finish the day with a dip in the pool!  Well Done Manuka Hub - it was a really fun day!

All set to leave for our picnic.

 Hunter flying over the hurdles!

 The hoop race.

 The dress-up race.

 Go Coby!

Finley carefully completing the egg and spoon race.

 Great job Miro!

 Three legged Maddie and Sadie.

Great teamwork Coby and Keiarliya
Congratulations to Maddie and Coby for receiving our first PRIDE awards for 2014!!

We have been working really hard in Room 1 over the first 3 weeks to learn about and show Parkvale Pride.  Our big focus has been showing Respect.

Maddie and Coby have both worked hard and have consistently shown respect in our classroom.  Well Done Maddie and Coby - we are very proud of you!

Parkvale School Staff do a Flash mob at Assembly!

What an exciting start to the school year!  We were all gathered at Assembly on Friday morning when suddenly some really loud music started to roar from the sound system...Mr Gifkins, who was standing at the front of assembly, looked confused and suddenly Mrs Anderson and Mrs Frewin were dancing away next to him and within seconds the entire staff had joined them at the front.  They boogied away - did the dougie, the wheelchair, the running man and lots of other hip hop moves!  Such a fun way to start the year!  I wonder what they'll do next????

Our First week in Room 1, 2014

Wow!  Room 1 has had an amazing first week of school!  We have been busy getting to know each other and settling into our new classroom routines.
Well Done Room 1!  You all had a fabulous week.

Our big focus this term is Parkvale PRIDE - Personal Best, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Enjoyment.
During week one we focused on Respect and what it looks like in Room 1.  We also gave our Personal Best and showed Determination in the work that we did.
